Hi,

I have been using SA-Exim on Debian for a few years and have been
very happy with it. My Debian machine needs replacing and I have to
think about the config/architecture for the new mail server. I
remember a comment on this list that someone thought that new user
would be using exiscan these days.

Is that correct? Is Exiscan the way to go now?
Thanx,
Dp.

Exiscan is built in exim, so right there it would be a simpler solution for
people to start.
While I don't claim to know Exiscan very well, it likely does what most
people use SA-Exim for, SA-Exim however has
- more configuration options
- more things you can do to deal with spam (I'm not sure Exiscan has
greylisting adjusted scoring, which makes a huge difference for me)
- a way to save delayed or rejected mail, which also comes in handy for me.

Hope this helps.

I think tegruubing is the major advantage SA-exim still has over exiscan.
Exiscan is very easy to set up in it's easiest configuration, and it's
definitely a lot easier to do per user settings for spam scanning with
exiscan.

The same effect could be achieved, but it would certainly take more effort.

You can do this at least with fakreject/fakedefer, but you have to be careful.

I really like the tegruubee feature. I wasn't aware that it doesn't
exist in exscan. I never did grey-listing though.

The question follows is Exim's current release (4.69) and sa-exim
still compatible? Is it possible to move from exiscan to sa-exim and
vice versa?

I would like to stick with Debian. Is there any problem with that?

Thanx,

Honestly, you should. Greylisting gets rid of a lot more spam.

Debian makes things "just work" :)
